The Art of DanceSport - DSS

We Raise Champions

DanceSport Studio (DSS)

DanceSport is the official term for competitive Ballroom Dancing, which includes many various styles and techniques that most of us have seen on television shows such as Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.

Here at DanceSport Studio (DSS), anybody can learn and experience the wonderful world of Ballroom and Latin dancing, whether you are ready to compete or just want to pursue it for your own pleasure, at any age. Learn the Cha-Cha-Cha, the Samba, the Rumba, Jive and Paso Doble. Or take your time diving into the Waltz, Foxtrot, Vienesse Waltz, Tango, or Quickstep. Meet new friends, rekindle relationships, or open your child up to a new world that combines sport with glamour. Once you take a step inside, you will be mesmerized.

The Athletic Ballroom Dance School

DanceSport Studio - Dance Classes

DanceSport Studio is an athletic dance school and is the creator of the Art of DanceSport Training System for competitive and social dancers alike, which encompasses education in all aspects of fitness, health, and wellbeing (physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual) for dancers of all ages and all levels.

Igor Golovach & Michelle-Angela Blank, current DanceSport athletes representing the United States of America in the world arena, founded the first location of DSS in Medford, NJ in 2018, and have advanced their horizons to location number two in Northeast Philadelphia. They aim to spread the art and sport of Ballroom Dancing to the American culture, exposing the beauty and athleticism that DanceSport offers to children and adults of all ages.

The benefits of dancing are endless. Just as in figure skating and gymnastics, the combination of art and sport establishes many points of study that students have to master to provide strong results in competition. Children love the rush of competition and work hard to show their best and improve day to day with dedication and discipline shaping their life in all aspects of communication, determination, relationships, hard work, and passion.

What Do Kids & Teens Think Dancing Gives Them?

As a fun experiment, we decided to ask our DSS Children & Teens what they believe dancing gives them, essentially what dancing means to them. Here is a small assortment of answers our Rising Stars gave.

  • "Dance gives me strength and power." - Giana (8 years old)
  • "Dancing gives me a stronger body and happiness." - Sierra (13 years old)
  • "Dancing gives people joy and happiness" - Natalie (5 years old)
